Wear the glasses you make yourself!

A guide to 3D-print and build stylish glasses using 3D-print filament and hard folder plastic or hard plastic envelop.

Additional Info

  • What you will learn:
    • Technology: 3D-printing, vinyl cutter.

  • Expected Time:

  • Materials & Recycled Materials:
    • 3D-print filament
    • Recycled thin transparent hard plastic i.e: hard plastic envelop or paper cover a4
    • 2 pcs D 1mm x 5 mm pins
    • Plastic glue
  • Guide:
    • 3D-printing: Bring the files.STL to the slicer program. Arrange the front part leaning downwards on the printing bed. Arrange the ear-supports leaning the wider side on the printing bed. 3D-print and test how parts fit each other. Test also do the pins fit in the joints. Make the necessary slicer settings changes and 3D-print again if necessary. Assemble the 3D-printed parts and insert the pins on the two joints.

    • Vinyl cutting: bring the vector file to the vinyl cutting program and arrange it properly. Insert the recycled hard plastic in the vinyl cutter and set the origin brake onto the plastic border. Execute the cut

  • Further Steps:
    • Once you know how the production methods work, try designing your own glasses using a 3D-modelling program capable to save file as STL.
  • Software used in the project:
    • - Solidworks
    • - Ultimaker Cura
    • - Summa Winplot.
  • Difficulty level: Easy
  • Developed By: Salpaus
