TREE HUNTING

Could you measure and identify a tree in a park?

Starting from a map analysis, couples of students will calculate the tree measurement point in a park. Then, they will have to join the measurement point and discover how much the tree is high applying simple math rules. Finally they will have to recognise the tree specie using mobile apps and compare results with their classroom mates.

CARBON HEATER

A carbon fibre heater controlled by a temperature sensor

Carbon fibres can be used in many different ways, yet they are seldom used as heating bodies. To successfully use carbon fibres as heating bodies the necessary amount of fibres is required due to their electrical resistance, which varies with the quantity and the length of the fibres. Fibres heat up rapidly; that’s why we can easily control them using a temperature sensor and PLC Arduino Uno. To set up the system, a set of products is prepared, and a basic program, which can be changed or upgraded. The electric circuit diagram of the components is also included.

DESK CLOCK

Assemble and program your desk clock!

Using some 3d printable pieces, an Arduino board and three cheap stepper motors you can apply your maths and programming skills to realize an easy desk clock. You can also personalize the final result mounting the clock inside a recycled box!

To start with this project you can find here the STL files for your 3d printer, the electrical diagram and an example of the Arduino code.

VOLUME GAUGE

Measure the volume of a liquid in a container using a distance sensor.

Do you want to discover how much liquid is filling a container? You can use a distance sensor, like a HC-SR04, connected to an Arduino and writing a short code you will calculate the amount of liquid volume starting by the container dimensions and using the distance measured by the sensor.

To start with this project you can find here the electrical diagram and an example of the Arduino code. You can also build a support for the sensor or use the 3d printable clamp available here!
